The Best of Youth (Italian: La meglio gioventù)

'The Best of Youth' chronicles the life of two brothers, of contrasting personalities, over a period of about 40 years. The choices they make, based on their beliefs, and the impact these decisions have on them, their families and loved ones is the underlying theme. The socio-political events happenings in and around Italy during those years and its bearings on their life is beautifully depicted.

The interplay of emotions, dissent, rage, uncertainty, love and longing by the characters is etched out aesthetically by the script and its director Marco Giordana. The acting is natural and the characters evoke strong responses from the viewers.

It is a must watch. It requires patience due to it being way too long at about 6 hours, still its worth all the time.
